Tribute to Optimist Club and FRCC Volunteers August 5, 2023

Months ago, Bruce Mercado and Kathy Novak approached me for assistance in selecting bike helmets for the Optimist Club to distribute to elementary school children at their Optifest event. Louise Kasl from Kinetic Systems went through her supply chain and managed to find 100 helmets. She collaborated with Specialized Bicycles to arrange this donation.
Volunteers from the Flying Rhino club refreshed their official helmet fitting training and conducted technical fitting sessions. In just one and a half hours, all the helmets were given away! We extend our sincere gratitude to the volunteers (Jamal, Alison, Scott, Kim, Kathy, and Dan) for their care and patience in ensuring that these helmets were put to good use, protecting the youth in our area. The parents were especially appreciative of the helmets and the correct fitting. We would also like to express our thanks to the Optimist Club for sponsoring this generous donation.
